Dr Garry Buckland B.Med.(Hons), F.R.A.C.S
Dr Buckland is a consultant specialist in plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery with extensive experience in all aspects of the specialty. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS), a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS).
Dr Buckland graduated from the University of Newcastle in 1987 with first class honours and the University Medal. He initially trained at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick and obtained his FRACS in General Surgery. He then undertook further post fellowship training in the subspecialty of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, obtaining his second FRACS. The FRACS is recognised as the highest level of surgical training within Australia and, in 1999, the NSW Health Commissioner Inquiry into Cosmetic Surgery upheld the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons as the benchmark for surgical certification.
Dr Buckland is a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) at the Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney Childrens Hospital at Randwick. He also has appointments at the following private hospitals: Castlecrag Private Hospital, St Lukes Private Hospital at Potts Point, Prince of Wales Private Hospital, Randwick.
Dr Buckland has consulting rooms at Mosman and Randwick. In the Mosman rooms he has a state of the art procedure room in which he performs minor procedures with local anaesthetic and cosmetic rejuvenation procedures.
Dr Buckland has extensive experience in breast surgery including breast reduction, augmentation (enlargement) and reconstruction after breast cancer surgery. He is also experienced in abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), liposuction and facial plastic surgery.
Dr Buckland’s other areas of interest include skin cancer surgery, hand surgery and paediatric plastic surgery.
Dr Buckland offers a full range of cosmetic rejuvenation procedures including anti-wrinkle injections/ photofacials with Intense Pulse Light (IPLTM), comprehensive skin care programmes and laser hair removal.
Dr Buckland travels to the Asia-Pacific region once a year with Interplast, an Australian charity organisation of plastic surgeons who donate surgical services to developing nations. There he performs cleft plate repairs and trains local surgeons to improve their skills and training programs.
Dr Buckland is also committed to teaching here in Australia, both to undergraduate
medical students and to plastic surgeons-in-training which he performs in
his role as a VMO to the Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick. Dr Buckland
attends many conferences, both in Australia and overseas as part of his
commitment to continued medical education and keeping up with the very latest
advances in his field.
